For the past week I’ve been on the road and in a swirl, with little-to-no contemplative time for writing a new WOW post.
I’ve been in Taos, New Mexico, my beloved previous home-base, on another leg of my new-book tour, as well as busy sorting through my remaining belongings in storage in Taos.
In the past few days I did two radio interviews, one with Robin Collier and Mike Tilley at KCEI 90.1, “Cultural Energy,” in Taos (to hear the interview, please go to this link and scroll down to my name on the left-hand side: http://culturalenergy.org/listenlinks.htm) and another with Howie Roemer at KNCE 93.5 FM in his Airstream studio out on the mesa.
On Sunday evening I did a reading at SOMOS (the Society of the Muse of the Southwest), Taos’s jewel of a literary nonprofit, of my new book, Jamie’s Muse:
Looking out over the many, many faces in the audience at SOMOS, I almost wept with gratitude for my good fortune at having such dear friends and former students in Taos. I read several selections from Jamie’s Muse, especially from two chapters titled “Taos, New Mexico…”
Then today I had a “picnic” lunch with two Taos pals, Barb Scott, who designed the cover and interior pages of Jamie’s Muse, and Pat Pollard, who wrote one of the book’s back cover blurbs:
Tomorrow I return to my new home-base in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I don’t know when — or whether — I’ll ever get back to Taos. But I do know I’ll always have Taos and my Taos friends in my heart.
